Test by Nokia (click on, open, select small sub-tests,
then right click to toggle through the tests, then exit through the door
icon, lower right). . . or download the Zip file that includes
directions (445k) Click to open, select "Extract All Files"
and select where to save them. Most monitors, as set up from the
factory, need considerable adjustment for critical work.
If your monitor is adjusted properly you should see
all 12 steps of gray, with the last step (the 12th) separating from the
background (solid black). Some inexpensive or old monitors simply won't
do this.
